Renewed Mind Is A Sound Mind.
The self-image is the foundation of everything in life. We all always act and think in consistency with our self-image or identity. Everything you do, think and feel is based on how you see yourself. The self-image is your own conception of “The person I am.” It is built from your beliefs about yourself. Our subconscious mind does not question the validity of our self-image but proceeds to act upon it just as if it were true. The self-image creates individual reality regardless of how accurate it is.
One of the strongest forces in the human personality is the drive to preserve the integrity of our own identity. The subconscious works hard to maintain and protect the self image. It uses it as the blueprint of how to be. The self-image is the key element that determines whether your subconscious mind functions for success or failure. If someone sees themselves as being successful and happy, they will subconsciously be directed and compelled towards actions that will lead to this. Anything else would lead to subconscious discomfort and compelled to be transformed.
Your self-image defines and limits your potential. What you need to do is build your self image so that you expand from your current self imposed limitations. By expanding your self-image, you expand the limits of your talents and capabilities. Expanding your self-image expands your personal field of possibilities. If you don’t think you really deserve love, success and abundance then you usually don’t take the risks necessary to create it. And, if it falls in your lap, you often sabotage it because reality doesn’t match your internal self-image.
Whenever we experience negative situations in our lives, we tend to let them influence our self-image in a negative way. When you fail in something, you think you are a failure instead of simply thinking that the situation did not work out. When your relationship comes to an end, you think nobody wants you instead of thinking that the two of you were not meant for each other. It is the destructive instinct or self condemnation mentality that causes us to think that way. Such negative self-reinforcement is the result of the consciousness of “I am not good enough.” A winner is someone who does not personalize poor results. Such a person can be disappointed without feeling like a failure. When you experience negative thoughts and scenarios in your mind, you should take a moment to think “It does not have to be that way.”
All behavior and capability is determined by the self-image. No real change in behavior can take place unless the self-image is changed. For the purpose of immediate change, the causes of a negative self-image does not matter. It isn’t necessary to find out all those things that made you think negative thoughts about yourself. Anyone can start a new and fulfilling life by changing his self-image right now. For lasting change, awareness of what affects your self-image is needed to preserve the integrity of it.
Never tell the dog he’s bad. If you tell him he’s bad, he’ll start to feel bad, and then he’ll start to act bad as well. All the dog will really be doing, is confirming what you’ve just told him! Don’t confuse the identity of the dog, with the dog’s behavior. No matter what happens, your dog is a good dog. And sometimes your good dog will have lousy behavior. “Good boy, good dog, don’t gnaw on the table leg!” “Good boy, good dog, don’t you dare lift your leg on those curtains!” No matter what he does, it’s very important for your dog to know his positive identity never changes. If you think in terms of good dog now bad dog later, your affection for your dog will change like the weather and he will become confused, and not know who he really is.
Be sure once and for all what your identity really is. Know what you are and what you are not and consistently enforce it no matter what contradictory statements come from whatever sources. Consistently foster and support your people in developing a positive identity so that they will act and think in ways that are positive.
If there is one secret for successful action in life, it is the feeling of success. When you feel successful, you will act successfully. Think about things that give you the feeling of success. Too often we tend to forget our successes and dwell on our failures. We should remember our successes so that they can reinforce our identity of being a winner. When you remember and think about your successes, you are focusing more on what you want which will cause you to attract more of it.
Enhancing your self-image is not an end in itself. A poor self-image can keep us from setting goals or discourage us from pursuing them. Your self-image determines the kind of goals you will set and pursue but you still have to take action to achieve them. The self-image is the foundation by which our actions operate upon. There are people who manage to take enough actions and do the correct things to achieve their goal, but they undo their success because their self-image has not changed to hold their new achievement into their reality for long. Having the right self-image attracts your success to you faster and makes it lasting.
You are constantly projecting your self-image to the world. How you see yourself is how you make others see you. There are people who change their physical appearance but yet still don’t make others feel different about them. That is because their self-image is still the same. You are only able to make others feel about you what you feel about yourself. When you change your self-image, you will also affect your physical appearance. You will start to look different as your inner beauty shines on the outside and transforming your face and body. You can appear the way you desire to others simply by changing your own consciousness about yourself.
